Operation #SmilesMatter

As you work with your local health authorities to reopen and scale up your practice in the coming weeks, we know you are facing unprecedented challenges. For this reason, we are committing more than $3.3 million for Operation #SmilesMatter, a grant program to help you acquire much-needed supplies, equipment, and technology as you prepare to reopen your practice following COVID-19-related closures Here’s how it works:

  • Operation #SmilesMatter grants are available to all licensed dentists practicing within the state of Tennessee who have active NPI numbers.

  • Each eligible dentist will receive a $1,000 grant.

  • This program will be administered through Henry Schein, Inc. in the form of a credit on the eligible dentists' account with Henry Schein, to be used towards existing account balances and then toward any future purchase of any dental products and/or services from Henry Schein1.

  • All value under this program is provided by Delta Dental of Tennessee. Recipient criteria and direction of the program has been determined by Delta Dental of Tennessee2.

Unless Delta Dental of Tennessee decides to extend the grant program period, the credit will not be applied to any accounts created after November 2, 2020.

If you have any questions about the credit or your eligibility, please contact Mary Stewart at Delta Dental of Tennessee, mstewart@deltadentaltn.com.

Issuance of credit by Henry Schein under the grant program is contingent upon Henry Schein receipt of the necessary underlying grant funds from Delta Dental of Tennessee.

Please note that participation in this program is completely voluntary and is being offered by Delta Dental of Tennessee on a voluntary basis to help assist practices during the COVID-19 crisis and is not a guarantee of funding. NEITHER DELTA DENTAL NOR HENRY SCHEIN SHALL BE LIABLE IN ANY WAY FOR ANY LOSSES OR DAMAGES WHATSOEVER, WHETHER DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, PUNITIVE, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, LOST PROFITS AND LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO ANY DUTY OF COMMON LAW, AND WHETHER OR NOT OCCASIONED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF DELTA DENTAL OR HENRY SCHEIN, REGARDLESS OF ANY NOTICE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.  IF THE FOREGOING LIMITATION OF LIABILITY PROVISION, OR ANY PORTION THEREOF, IS HELD BY A COURT OF COMPETENT JURISDICTION TO BE INVALID, ILLEGAL VOID OR UNENFORCEABLE, PLEASE NOTE THAT IN NO EVENT OR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES MAY DELTA DENTAL OR HENRY SCHEIN’S MAXIMUM TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY WITH RESPECT TO THIS PROGRAM EXCEED $1000.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Delta Dental of Tennessee doing anything to help dentists through COVID-19?

    • Operation #SmilesMatter is a program providing $1,000 grants for Tennessee dentists to use to purchase PPE or other supplies they may need as they start to see patients again. This program is administered by Henry Schein and will appear as a credit on accounts. Dentists may also use the credit against a current account balance.

    Why Henry Schein?

    • We looked into many different options to lend aid to the dentists in our state as they have been tremendously impacted by the order to limit practice to emergency procedures only these last couple of months. Those options ranged from grants and loans to dentists to purchasing PPE to help resupply their offices. Ultimately, we decided our best program would be $1,000 grants to each dentist in the state and have entered into an agreement with Henry Schein to administer this program. And with regard to the PPE, Schein has quality controls in place to ensure their products are safe, a step we do not feel qualified to address. This gives the dentists more control over products received so they get what they need.

How will I receive this credit on my account?

    • We have already validated more than 3,000 dentists for eligibility for this gift and those dentists will have the funds credited to their account possibly as soon as May 18, definitely by May 31. This is better than a 90% match for practicing dentists in the state.

What if I don’t have an account with Henry Schein?

    • For those who are not currently Henry Schein customers, you will simply need to apply for an account with Schein and complete a form that will be submitted to our Professional Relations department for validation. Completed forms can be emailed to ProviderRelations1@DeltaDentalTN.com or faxed to 615.244.8108. Upon confirmation that an eligible dentist has opened a new account with Henry Schein, Delta Dental will transfer the funds within 5 business days to Henry Schein and once received, Henry Schein will post the credit within 10 business days thereafter.
